Tick Tick waiting on grade for first math test.

How do you feel while waiting on a grade? I will go over and over in my head, trying to think if I wrote down the right answers. Uggg it's a terrible feeling to wait.

As the world turns!!!!!!

As a mom in college, do you ever feel like your would is spinning way to fast?
Everything was going great and then "boom"!!!!!!! My son gets sick and shares his germs with mommy. Which means I miss some classes. Missing just one class makes me feel like I am never going to catch up. Do you feel this way? How do you get back in sync?

Enough moaning, here is a picture of my little bookworm. Loves his books so much he falls asleep with them :)

The College Mom has been MIA for most of the week......

Why you may ask? It all started Tuesday in my math class. I felt like someone had ran me over. Now the stomach issues remain and I have not slept in almost two days. Needless to say, my head hurts, I'm begging my stomach to let me eat these mash potatoes, and my brain has been out of service. So that means no working on my math problems. Which is a very big no no for me. I need to start working on my next English essay. I made a high B on the first one. I work but butt off and made a B. If I don't start feeling better soon, I might as well see if I can major in being a sick blob :(

Wow what a pity party I am throwing here tonight.

Waiting!!!!!

Waiting on a grade can be terrible. You sit and wonder if you did it right or not. I am waiting on the grade for my first essay of the semester. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, it's driving me nuts.

It's the weekend

How do you spend your weekend? If you have a big test coming up next week, I'm sure you are spending it with your head in your books. Let's hope there is a few minutes to sit back and relax.

Emily's Story About Being A Mom In College

My major is Elementary Education with second concentrations in Psychology and English. I decided to take the additional psychology classes to find the true answer to what I was thinking when I decided to go back to school at the ripe old age of 33. I actually question my sanity at the time I made that decision still to this day. I had always wanted to teach, but the money never justified leaving my corporate job until I had enough of the dog-eat-dog business world. I decided to follow my dream as many others have done before me and start back to school only to make ½ the salary I was making in the corporate world, because I love children. My husband is in the military so we have recently relocated to Fort Bragg. I was able to finish all of my classes at Cleveland Community College except four. Currently, I am in the process of enrolling in Fayetteville Technical Community College to take my last four classes: (PE, Pre-Algebra, College Algebra, and Chemistry) all of which I had in high school, but have forgotten due to age and lack of use. I have plans to transfer to Eastern Carolina University in the fall to finish this journey and be on my merry way to the poor house. My favorite place to study is in the bed after Kennedy is asleep. I have spent many nights up until 3:00 a.m. studying after working as a teacher’s assistant and taking five classes per semester. My bed still bares the scars of the dreaded highlighters I always seemed to fall asleep with while working. My daughter still tells everyone of the morning I awoke with a rainbow colored face because the highlighters skipped the mattress that night and attacked me in my sleep. I had to face a room full of 3rd graders with highlighter stains on my face because they don’t really wash off that easily and live through stares from co-workers and of course the principals. My husband has been very supportive of me returning to school and is more appreciative now that he has started classes ha ha(I guess he feels my pain finally). However, my words came back to bite me with my daughter because she is expected to make A’s and B’s, and she so nicely reminds me that the same is expected of me or I am grounded . After I finish this four-year degree, which in all actuality will take me 5-6 years I plan to immediately start on my masters. I figure if I must torture myself for 5 to 6 years what is another 2 or 3 and the master’s degree will help me live above the poverty level too! I have almost decided against National Board Certification because I heard it was worst then natural childbirth. I would love to teach 2nd or 3rd grade, because they still have a desire to learn at this age and you never know what they are going to say.

Does your children help you with homework????

Mine sure does :)

This is my 8yr old. I was doing my math homework, which is basic elementary alegebra. He comes up and says,"Mom can I help." I thought he would have no idea how to do this. But I said,"Yes you can help me." I was working on adding and subtracting intergers with like and different signs. He watched me work one and then was doing them mostly in his head. "What!", this kid is in 3rd grade! Oh well I had to clean his stinky diapers when he was a baby, so I guess, the least he could do is  help me with my math :)

When do you find time to study?
